Having a baby in the NICU is excruciatingly difficult for parents for many reasons, but especially for the one step forward, two steps back lifestyle they have to get used to. With tremendous uncertainty about their child’s health, many times they don’t need to hear a cheer up message. Often, a message acknowledging their very real frustration and helplessness can feel tremendously supportive.
